The existence of universe has been described in the Vedic literature by three different philosophies, dualism, non-dualism and modified dualism. Dualism or dwait considers soul in the human body separate from spirit, non dualism or adwait considers soul in the human body a part and parcel of the spirit and modified dualism of Ramanuj considers human body as nothing but a cell of the universe which is one thinking organism having its own life span cum life cycle called a Brahma year. The existence of this universe is billion of years manifesting over multiple cycles of Brahma year repeating by itself.
Understanding the cycle of universe is a difficult game. No clear authentic reference exists which clarifies the history of existence of man. Various books describe differently the concept of Brahma year and the duration of each Yuga. I have been in touch with most of the spiritual organizations and all of them talk differently as far as this concept is concerned. Following is the gist of one of the theory regarding existence of man which tries to answer most of the unanswered questions.
The total cycle or one day of Brahma is equivalent to 5000 years, which is divided into two equal cycles of Brahma day and Brahma night each of 2500 years each. Both Brahma day and Brahma night each are divided into two Yuga making total four Yuga with 1250 years each.
These four Yuga lasting 1250 years each, are well known to all of us as Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga.
In Satya Yuga the average population is 9 lakhs, average age is 150 years and a person in total take eight births. In Treta Yuga the average age is 102 years and a person goes through 12 cycles of births and deaths. The population in Treta Yuga is 33 crores. In both these cycles each individual has health, wealth and happiness and all of them are soul directed.
In Dwapar Yuga a person goes through up to 21 cycles of births and deaths. In this Yuga the person becoming body conscious, the Adam and eve appear, and an era of selfless bhakti starts.
In Kali Yuga a person goes through up to 42 birth and death cycles. It is an era of selfish bhakti.
The cycles of Yugas are called cycles of golden, silver, copper and Iron Age respectively.
Yugas are also related to the type of person’s living and the collective state of mind people are living with. Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishnav and Shudra will predominate according to the Yugas. Satyuga will have Brahmins as leaders, Treta Yuga Kshatriyas, Dwapar Yuga Vaishnavs and Kali Yuga Shudras as their leaders.
There is no history available of Satya Yuga and Trrta Yuga or the present Brahma cycle. In Treta Yuga and Dwapar Yuga the society saw avatars like Rama and Krishna.
An avatar represents the sum total consciousness of the society. Rama believed in truthfulness and Krishna was more practical as per the time and collective consciousness of that era.
Dwapar Yuga probably, started with Ibrahim some 2500 years back. As per the history Buddhism started 2250 years back, Christianity 2000 years back, Shankaracharya philosophy 1500 years back, Mohammad movement 1400 years back and Sikhism 500 years back.
Dwapar Yuga started with various people creating various types of dharmas. Each Dharma cycle in turn will have three phases of satva, rajas and tamas predominance in the mind of the people in sequence.
In Kali Yuga the dharmic movements are over and people now live with the concept of ashram, samaj, math, mandal, pant, sabhla and societies.
According to Shrimad Bhagwad, Satya Yuga stands on four pillars: satya, tapas, purity and daya cum daan. In Treta Yuga satya is compromised but the other three remains. In Dwapar Yuga only purity of mind and daya remains and in Kali Yuga one only lives on daya and daan.
Let us take the example of India. It has been ruled by Brahman, Kshatriya and Vaishnav. The time has come for it to be ruled by the Shudras. One can see the attempts towards OBC reservations leading towards the same.
Every cycle starts with satva, goes through rajas and ends up with tamas. In our shastras it has been well described that tamas will predominate in Kali Yuga with parlay and a new avatar will take birth called kalki. During this period there will be destruction of the whole universe and Satya Yuga will again start with limited number of people.
From the modern science point of view it is very difficult to explain whatever has been written above but we know that every miracle is the science of tomorrow. Every happening today or tomorrow will have a scientific explanation. The scientists may differ in the definition of
Brahma year and the number of years for a cycle but the sequence and the description of the cycle are well described in Vedic literature.
Therefore, it has definite scientific Vedic evidence.
